First Reflective letter
Dear Marlen,
This is my second class with you, so I generally know what to expect. This class is different though, I am more concerned with this class but it is a little easier in some ways. The big difference is going from writing creative fiction to writing a paper that concerns with real topics.
I am excited to do some of the research for my paper, I get to do it on something that I love to do and it should be easy to write about. Just because I am excited for this, doesn’t mean I have no concerns. I have been really stressed on the writing that we have done so far. It seems as if none of my sources 100% cover what I need them to cover. This should ease up once I have thoroughly read and reviewed all of my sources.
The most helpful thing, in my opinion, that we did so far in this class was the annotated bib. It helped because it made me read my sources, it also helped my formatting. The least helpful thing would be the outline for me, thats not a real helpful way to organize a paper in my opinion. Other than the two things I’ve mentioned, I think that other exercises we did in class, or as homework was valuable.
Sincerely, Jacob
Final Reflective letter
Dear Marlen, Its been a fun year. Thats not to say they werent points where I was ready to say fuck it. After getting the bulk of the work done it seemed as if a weight was lifted from me. The concerns I had during the midterm reflective letter seem small, since I was able to work through them. All of the sources for my paper came together and I’ve created something that I can be proud of.
I never thought I would have a paper that has been submitted to a journal, its a good feeling. It makes it seem as if all of that work was necessary and it really was. If I were not pushed as hard by you and classmates, then my paper would not nearly be as good as it is.
In closing Marlen, its been a fun year. I know you are trying find a professor job and I wish you all the luck. I will keep in touch through Facebook whenever possible. You were a great teacher and I really learned from you, hope you have all the luck in the world.
Sincerly,
Jacob Linzenbold
